Shocking Lies We’ve Been Told About How To Manifest Money
The question of how to manifest money (often with the focus being on more money) sits at the top of many people’s minds (whether they admit to it or not). I know that I’ve certainly thought a lot about this over the course of my life, and I had my fair share of thinking that the whole “manifestation” stuff was a crock of shit.
We’ve been told a lot of lies about how the whole “manifestation” thing works, so it’s not really any mistake that more people don’t manifest MORE money (or other things). I’m going to crack open a few of the lies and share with you the things I’ve learned that actually worked for me with the hopes that you’ll find them helpful and get you some shortcuts to manifesting more money or manifesting other things that you desire in your life.
If you’re reading this article and if you’ve grabbed my book (that you can find here), then you know I went through a time in my life when I didn’t think manifesting ANYTHING was possible. This was during a time when things started to take a bit of a nose dive into some of the shitstorms I’ve endured.
I had jumped into a marriage with a woman named Mackenzie, even though we had a pretty rocky relationship. Not so long after we got married, she introduced me to a video called The Secret. It was all about the “Law of Attraction” and the “power of positive thinking” so that you can “manifest your own destiny” kind of thing (you’ve probably heard of it or read it yourself).
I was actually quite fascinated by it and at that time, it looked like it was just what the doctor ordered for me and I thought it could be the very thing that could make my marriage and other things in my life work. What I remember specifically trying first was to manifest improvements in my relationship with Mackenzie. I would lie on the grass in the park and try to visualize us the way we were in the beginning…
I just sat and thought about it and thought about it. Positive mindset, visualizations, the whole works. Did it work? Nope, it sure didn’t. In fact, our relationship only got worse.
So, I went on to a new area of interest for manifestation since that one clearly didn’t work out for me. At this time in my life, I was tired of chasing after nickels and dimes and that’s when I tried manifesting more money. I worked on the visualizations, positive thinking… and what do you think happened? I got fired from my job! Needless to say, I decided that either I wasn’t doing this manifesting thing right, or The Secret was bullshit, and at that point, I gave up on the whole thing altogether.
Later, I realized that I had been doing the whole manifestation thing wrong (or at least looking at it wrong), and I had some huge lessons that I learned that I want to share here with you.
Manifestation is not just about positive thinking and visualizing what you want. That is big lie #1. Yes, these things are a part of it, but there’s more to it than that. You can’t positively think your way to anything if there aren’t some other things included in the process. Some of the things that must go along with a positively framed mindset when we want to start manifesting things in our life are 1) taking action, and, 2) feeling the emotions of already knowing that what you desire has already manifested in your life.
If we don’t take action steps to do the work to get to the thing we want, a positive mindset won’t get us to the win. And, feeling the emotion of already having what we want to manifest is the key that gets left out of most instructions. Don’t get me wrong, being positive is a part of it all, but it’s only a little slice of the bigger picture.
Another big lie is thinking manifestation doesn’t work if we get the opposite of what we wanted. As my story above demonstrated, my marriage got worse when I was trying to manifest a better relationship. And, my job got worse (I got fired!) when I was trying to manifest more money. I had it all wrong! It’s not that “manifesting” wasn’t working, it’s actually that I was putting my intentions of what I really desired into the universe and it was getting me what I needed…
I needed to get out of that marriage/relationship and I needed to find a better way to make a living. So, I manifested exactly what I NEEDED, which doesn’t always match what we WANT. Don’t be fooled if your life starts to spin out of control and you think that nothing is working. That chaos spin (or what I call shitstorm) is more than likely giving you exactly what you need if you’re really clear in putting out into the universe what you really desire.
Another lie about manifesting money (or anything for that matter) is that often a conversation around our perception is left out. The way we perceive our realities can have a huge impact on how we see our current situation versus what we want to manifest in our lives. Our perceptions can be extremely clouded, for example, if we’re taking a victim stance in certain areas of our lives.
So, another big part of manifesting what we desire is to step back and look at whether we are taking responsibility for our lives and our actions. It wasn’t until I found an amazing book that changed my whole mindset around the manifestation process that I could really understand what that meant (read chapter 12 in my book to see what book that was), and it’s from this book that I found myself better able to focus and put into practice the conscious creation of my reality. It helped me really understand how perception and responsibility are two big things to figure out as part of the manifestation process.
When I understood this, I saw real changes start to happen for me. Taking responsibility for the events and outcomes in your own life is both immensely rewarding and—at the same time—monstrously terrifying. Nobody wants to be the one to blame if things go tits up — I get it.
Your perception is your reality and if you perceive yourself to be a victim, then that is exactly what you will be—a victim, and unfortunately, no amount of manifestation practices will change your life until these things are uncovered and dealt with. It’s some scary-ass shit. But you know what? It’s the most fulfilling and gratifying feeling in the world because it’s when BIG changes can take place and manifestation practices can open up a whole new world of possibilities.
In the end, whether you choose to believe in the law of attraction or conscious creation is totally up to you, but I think we can all agree that you do have to take responsibility for your own future.
