Don’t Quit [Seizing Life’s Unexpected Opportunities]

Never give up. Keep going. Don’t quit. Mistakes make you stronger. It is so important to persevere when you feel like giving up. And if you’re lucky enough to be in the company of people who believe in you when you feel like throwing in the towel, you’re likely to hear the words “don’t quit.” You may not appreciate it in the moment, but having someone to remind you to press on is something to be grateful for.

It’s not always how things go, though. Sometimes we feel utterly alone in times of defeat and uncertainty. Those are the times when we have to be our own cheerleader. I have definitely experienced a few such times. And I have learned to cheer myself on, because I have come to believe that every situation holds an opportunity.

I truly believe that there is some force in the universe that wants us all to succeed beyond our wildest dreams! If you can operate from this expectation, you will be less afraid to take risks, and less daunted by failure, because you will know that what we sometimes call failure is simply the universe nudging you in the direction of something even better. You are also more likely to gain valuable insights and tools from those so-called failures when you realize that every situation, no matter how awful it may seem, gives you something valuable to use as you move toward success.

Do you ever feel like the universe is against you? Like you can’t get a break? Like you’re a born loser? If you find yourself feeling this way, I invite you to consider a new perspective: a perspective in which you consider all negative happenings as something positive down the road. Perception is reality, and the way you decide to interpret an event will dictate the reality you are about to experience next. Get rid of any belief that assumes you are a “helpless victim of the system.”

I have found it to be true in my life time and time again that all things, even the bad ones, serve a purpose. That purpose is to help aim you toward the success you are meant to have.

Let’s say you want to have more financial security, and then you get fired. It would be easy to see this as a bad thing, or an indication that the universe is against you. My advice when something like this happens is to suspend your judgment. Better yet, say thank you. You may think that sounds ludicrous. But if you have adopted the belief, like I have, that the universe always has your back, then you see everything that happens as a vehicle the universe is using to make your dreams a reality. You just might find (and I have seen things like this happen in my life over and over again) that a new, better paying job, or some other opportunity for more income, appears within a short amount of time.

We all have the ability to turn failures into triumphs, and one of the most useful tools we can use for that is our mind. The universe has your back, but it needs your cooperation. You are the one with the free will to choose your point of view. If you choose to feel like a hapless victim with bad luck, guess what? The universe will respond by bringing you more bad luck that makes you feel like a victim. If you have the expectation that bad things have to happen in order to propel you toward good things in the future, you are likely to see something better than you even imagined on the horizon.

So, no matter what happens, don’t quit. Believe in yourself. Believe in the universe. And be the badass you were born to be. You are the one with the power to change your life!
